The Sun has the heartwarming story of a supposedly infertile grandmother whose irritable bowel syndrome turned out to be—surprise—a baby. After Alison Dent gave birth to her daughter Kylie at 19, abnormal cells were found in her cervix. Doctors removed part of Dent's cervix, which should have left her unable to get pregnant. In fact, she didn't have a period in the 26 years following the surgery. It was a massive disappointment for Dent, who wanted another child. In 2013, Kylie got pregnant. Around the same time Dent learned she was going to be a grandma, she started having stomach pains. Doctors diagnosed her bloated stomach and swollen ankles as IBS.
Three months after Kylie gave birth to little Caseylee, Dent was taken to the hospital with serious stomach pains. Doctors thought scans revealed a cyst in her belly. Then they realized the cyst was actually a baby—Dent was due in just eight weeks. “My jaw fell open with shock.” A few months later, Dent had the second child, Bobby, she had always wanted. “I didn’t have a deadly cyst or even IBS—my swollen stomach was an Incredible Baby Surprise," Dent says.
