A Massachusetts man went from extreme elation to utter heartache in the span of just a few moments when his wife of five months, Liz, who'd had a healthy pregnancy without any complications, had to undergo an emergency C-section, lost too much blood, and died, reports the Boston Globe. But his nightmare had only just begun. Domingos Fraga spent the next days holding and reading to his newborn, Juliet, but she died just five days later (he says she took in too much blood at birth). Then, at his wife and daughter's wake, the family received news that Fraga's sister had died of cervical cancer, leaving two children behind. A few days later, his grandmother suffered a stroke.
"It goes from being mad, to being numb, to just bawling every night knowing she’s not there," Fraga tells WCVB. Barely able to speak through his tears, he is still trying to hold onto something positive. "I got to hold her and read to her every night," he says. "They were meant to be together. Liz wanted to hold her." A friend who set up a GoFundMe page for Fragas writes that he's the last person who would ask for money. "But he's not asking, we are. He's already emotionally drowning with all this bad news and the last thing we would want for him is to drown in debt." As of this writing, more than 900 people have donated more than $47,000. (This father lost his wife just days after she delivered triplets.)
