The op-ed page of the New York Times contains a first for Bernie Sanders on Wednesday: One of his fellow senators has endorsed him for president. The tribute comes from Jeff Merkley of Oregon, who praises Hillary Clinton's "remarkable record" but says that Sanders is "boldly and fiercely addressing the biggest challenges facing our country," especially the economic ones. Clinton, meanwhile, will be happier to read that the New York Daily News has endorsed her ahead of the Empire State's April 19 primary: "Clinton is unsparingly clear-eyed about what’s wrong with America while holding firm to what’s right with America." (Read the Clinton endorsement in full here, and the Sanders endorsement here.)
