Be on the lookout for a roaming group of young people picking rap battles with unsuspecting citizens, warn police in one Massachusetts town. WCVB reports the Charlton Police Department issued the warning after an SUV with two or three young men inside stopped next to a group of young teens on Saturday. A sandal-wearing man got out of the SUV and started rapping while a second man asked the teens if they would possibly like to "spit some bars." The teens said they weren't interested in a rap battle, and the men drove off.
The teens' parents later contacted the police, who are now investigating, NBC News reports. Police characterized what happened as "suspicious behavior and frightening to the boys." The Internet largely disagreed, with citizens calling the police investigation "absurd" and a "joke." Police say the issue was not the rapping itself but older people approaching children. "We have encouraged everyone to report suspicious activity to the police and will continue to do so even if it means we will be ridiculed," NBC quotes a police statement. (More weird crimes stories.)
