Chris Christie says he's focused on the New Jersey state budget and his 30th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, the rest of America isn't quite there with him. In a Thursday press conference in Trenton, Christie addressed the calls from a slew of newspapers that he resign in the wake of his endorsement of Donald Trump (not going to happen) and his much discussed appearance at Trump's Super Tuesday press conference. Politico has some key lines:

  • "No, I wasn't being held hostage. No, I wasn't sitting up there thinking, 'Oh my God, what have I done?' I was sitting up there—standing up there—supporting the person who I believe is the best person to beat Hillary Clinton. ... I understand everybody had a lot of fun with it. It doesn’t matter to me. Listen, I don't know what I was supposed to be doing. ... All these, you know, armchair psychiatrists should, like, give it a break."

He emphasized several times his 14-year relationship with Trump (though he hadn't been on Trump's plane before last Friday), at one point saying, "Have he and I discussed a detailed calendar [of when Christie would appear with him], no. He and I are friends. And so if he picks up the phone and calls me and says, 'I need your help somewhere,' and I have the time to do it, I'm going to help him." Christie touched several times on why he likes Trump over the other candidates, saying "The fact is, I have considered all the things to be relevant and I've made my choice." Don't agree with it? "I don't really care." (More Chris Christie stories.)
