It's all over but the shoveling: The much-discussed blizzard that pummeled the East Coast on Friday and Saturday had mostly moved on by Sunday morning, leaving up to 40 inches of white stuff (congratulations, Glengary, W.Va., that's you), at least 18 storm-related deaths, and thousands of canceled flights in its wintry wake, reports NBC News. A look around the aftermath, also via NPR:
- Fatalities included three shoveling-related deaths in New York City and two Long Islanders who were apparently using snow blowers. Six people died in North Carolina, and two in Kentucky, including a DOT worker killed in a snow plow accident.
