The Columbus Blue Jackets’ backup net minder Fredrik Norrena stopped 18 shots en route to his first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over the Calgary Flames. Manny Malhotra led Columbus with two goals, his second such effort in as many games. Rick Nash added a goal and two assist, according to the Associated Press. Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • The St. Louis Blues ended a 10-game road losing streak with a 4-3 shootout win over the Montreal Canadiens. Brad Boyes scored a goal in regulation and also netted the only tally in the shootout.
  • Alexander Ovechkin improved his NHL-leading goal total to 58 in the Capitals 4-2 win over the Predators. The Russian also recorded two assists in the victory.
