Here's something you don't see everyday: Twins born this week in San Diego arrived into the world in completely different years. NBC San Diego reports Jaelyn Valencia was born at 11:59pm Dec. 31, 2015 at the Kaiser Permanente Zion Medical Center. Her younger brother Luis followed at 12:02am Jan. 1, 2016. "It's very unusual, and it's very special," one nurse says. "I haven't seen it in all my 34 years of nursing."
Parents Maribel and Luis were watching the clock prior to the births. "[Maribel] really wanted to have the babies on the same birthday because, you know later on in the years, they're going to have a little confrontation and be like, 'My birthday came first,' so it means two birthday parties, back to back," NBC quotes Luis. According to FOX 5, Jaelyn and Luis arrived earlier than expected, scuttling their parents' plans for ringing in 2016 in Los Angeles. Now with birthdays to celebrate on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, those plans may have to wait quite a while. (More birth stories.)
