Police in Los Angeles County have found the woman they were looking for in the heartbreaking case of a newborn found buried alive under rubble in Compton the day after Thanksgiving. Investigators, who had called for the woman to come forward, announced Sunday night that the woman had been identified and arrested and that more details will be released at a Monday press conference, reports the Los Angeles Times. The woman, who police say was identified with the help of the public, could face charges including attempted murder and child endangerment, reports NBC Los Angeles. The baby girl was 24 to 36 hours old when she was found buried near a bike path. There have been no recent updates on her condition, but authorities have previously said she is healthy and will be put up for adoption, the Times reports. (A woman who left her newborn in a church Nativity scene won't be charged.)
