According to hacking group Anonymous, the Islamic State has made credible threats against events in multiple countries—including the US—set to take place Sunday, the Hill reports. Anonymous issued a statement Saturday in which it identified "confirmed" risks or possible risks at events in the US, Paris, Indonesia, Italy, and Lebanon. "The goal is to make sure the whole world, or at least the people going to these events, know that there have been threats and that there is possibility of an attack to happen," the International Business Times quotes the statement. "Another goal is to make sure [ISIS] knows that the world knows and cancels the attacks." The at-risk event identified in the US is the WWE Survivor Series scheduled to take place in Atlanta on Sunday.
Anonymous claims to have given proof of the threats to the CIA, the FBI, MI5, and the Australian government, the Times reports. But according to the group's statement, authorities haven't done enough despite getting the information "days ago," so Anonymous is warning civilians directly. "We hope that at these events adding more security will be enough to prevent any possible attacks," the statement reads. Anonymous notes "threats" aren't the same as "plans," but warns against going to any events with large crowds on Sunday, the Hill reports. The group "declared cyber war" on ISIS following the deadly attacks in Paris last week and claims to have shut down thousands of ISIS Twitter accounts.
