A Florida man identified by the Tampa Tribune as a New York Giants fan got more than a little carried away after his team's 32-18 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and tried to torch a giant Bucs flag outside team headquarters, police say. Daniel Raboni, 32, was charged with criminal mischief and marijuana possession after being caught trying to burn the flag, which the AP reports is 80 feet by 50 feet, hangs from a 15-story pole, and is worth around $26,000. Police say the flag is made from fire-retardant material and only a small portion of it was damaged. It's not clear how Raboni allegedly managed to get to a flag 15 stories up, notes Barry Petchesky at Deadspin, who wonders if he was shooting flaming arrows at it. (Last year, the Atlanta Braves accidentally set a US flag on fire during their home opener.)
