The world's healthiest country is a place at times better known for the occasional caning than the Mediterranean diet: According to Bloomberg rankings of every country of at least a million inhabitants, Singapore is the healthiest place on the planet, garnering an overall health grade of 89.45% when taking into account factors and risks like life expectancy, causes of death, smoking, high cholesterol, and immunizations, reports the Independent. If you're looking for the good old United States of America, don't look too high up: We clocked in at No. 33, just ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A look at the top 10:

  1. Singapore (89.45%)

  5. Japan (86.83%)
  6. Israel (85.97%)
