Attorney Carey Gabay, 43, was walking on a street in Brooklyn early on Sept. 7 when he was hit; the shooter remains on the loose. Earlier today, the family announced that Gabay had been declared brain dead, and he was subsequently taken off a respirator, reports USA Today. "Today we are all incredibly saddened by the news from Carey Gabay’s family,” Cuomo said in a statement. “I ask that all New Yorkers please join me in keeping both Carey and his family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.” (More Andrew Cuomo stories.)
