Authorities believe they've found the body of a man who was dating Tali Lennox, daughter of Annie Lennox, after he went missing in the Hudson River on Saturday. Ian Jones, 32, and Lennox, 22, were kayaking near Staatsburg, NY, when their tandem boat capsized. "They were able to stay together for about 15 or 20 minutes but then they got separated by the current," officer John Watterson tells the Telegraph. Minutes later, Lennox was pulled from the water by a passing boat, but Jones, a photographer and model, hadn't been seen since. Watterson tells Vogue UK the body matches Jones' description; an official identification will come with an autopsy today, reports the New York Times.
The search for Jones has been called off in the meantime. Watterson says the river's current "played a role in the kayak capsizing" but alcohol may have also been a factor. Neither Lennox nor Jones were wearing life jackets. "Going in the Hudson River, or any river, is not like going in a lake or a pool," Watterson says. "There is a current and it can be pretty rough. Once you get out there and realize, it can be too late." Lennox, an artist and model, posted a tribute to Jones on Instagram last night. "My best friend, my soul mate, my partner in crime and creativity, the love and light of my life is no longer with me," she wrote. "My heart is shattered." (Not familiar with Tali Lennox? New York magazine profiled her in 2013.)
