The Nuggets enjoyed the challenge of facing the reigning NBA champions, putting away the Spurs 109-96 by beating them to boards and stuffing point guard Tony Parker. Manu Ginobili led San Antonio in both points (24) and boos (numerous and resounding), while Allen Iverson swept to 29 points and nine assists, the San Antonio Express-News reports. Elsewhere in professional hoops:

  • Chris Paul had 25 points and 16 assists, and Tyson Chandler added 19 points and 10 boards in New Orleans' 107-96 defeat of New Jersey.
  • Milwaukee saw a late eight-point lead dwindle into a tie, then watched as LaMarcus Aldridge drained a jumper to put Portland ahead permanently 103-101, with time running out.
