Things weren't look good for Kala and Keira, two rescue dogs in a shelter near Atlanta. They were due to be euthanized at the end of the day Tuesday—until the Angels Among Us Pet Rescue Center posted an image of the two hugging on Facebook. About two hours after the post went up, both were whisked out of the shelter; a later update to the Facebook post clarified they have not been adopted but are in foster care.
The "first-person" narrative from one of the dogs couldn't have hurt: "If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me. I'll see her as she goes down the hallway." Then "they'll come for me next and I won't be as brave." Here's the happy follow-up post. (More uplifting news stories.)
