Canadian PM Widens Probe of NAFTA Leak

Amid cross-party outcry, the prime minister of Canada says he'll expand an investigation into the NAFTA leak that may have contributed to Barack Obama's loss in Ohio, reports the Globe and Mail. The opposition is calling for the head of Ian Brodie, PM Stephen Harper's chief of staff, who is reported to have leaked the memo that said Obama's campaign against the trade agreement was only "political positioning."

Jack Layton, the head of Canada's New Democratic Party, demanded that the PM apologize to "the American people and Senator Obama," and last night he appeared on CNN to reiterate his call for Brodie's sacking. In recent days, the Canadian press has reported that Hillary Clinton's campaign, as well as Obama's, tried to tip off Ottawa that its NAFTA posturing was unserious—a charge the campaign has denied.
