President Obama emerged victorious in the Rose Garden this morning to applaud the Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling to uphold federal subsidies for the Affordable Care Act. In a speech that ran just over 10 minutes long, the president praised the decision, saying that "after multiple challenges before the Supreme Court, the Affordable Care Act is here to stay," per the Hill. Other words he had on the matter:
- He wasn't "gloating," CNN commentators noted, but Obama was clearly making a point to all of his detractors when he noted for all the talk of "death panels," "misinformation," and attempts at repeal, "this law is now helping tens of millions of Americans," the Daily Kos reports. He added that the law has "never been a government takeover of health care," per CNBC, and that "this law is working. And it's going to keep doing just that."
