Somebody owes his work buddy a beer: Spectators at a military air show in Britain watched an unplanned but dazzling display of skill as one parachutist rescued a colleague in mid-air, reports the Telegraph. A member of the army's Red Devils aerial team began hurtling to the ground when his chute failed, but another member of the team caught up with him, snagged his chute, and directed them both down safely into water, reports Sky News. (This Instagram video provides a sense of it.)
“Was awful watching them struggling, especially when they veered off course—until we realized they were purposely targeting the biggest area of water for ditching in to," wrote one witness. "Everyone was staring at the water for ages waiting for them both to pop up and then when eventually they did everyone clapped," another tells the BBC. A message later posted on the air show's Facebook page later confirmed that both men were "safe & sound." (More parachute stories.)
