Many of us have experienced the pain of arriving at a fast-food restaurant hungry for breakfast at 10:55am, only to be told the meal stopped being served at 10:30am. Most of us, however, weren't arrested after the experience. Not so for Gary Kuhn, a Connecticut man who received the disappointing news at a Manchester Burger King Sunday and allegedly responded by making an unfortunate film reference. "Have you ever seen the movie Falling Down with Michael Douglas? It's a movie you should watch," police say Kuhn told the cashier, before explaining that Douglas' character fires a gun in a Whammy Burger after being told he can't order breakfast. "That's what I feel like doing," Kuhn reportedly added.
He then allegedly tossed a coupon at the cashier and left the restaurant, the Hartford Courant reports. (WHO-TV notes Kuhn was not actually carrying a weapon.) The BK manager called police—"the customers were concerned because it's church day and there's a lot of children," she said, according to WFSB—and Kuhn was arrested later that day at his home, thanks to customers who wrote down his license plate number; he was charged with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace. When police asked him if he wished to waive his right to remain silent, Kuhn told them "he only wanted a sandwich; he was still hungry," a police spokesperson says. As KRMG puts it, "He did not have it his way." (Click to read about the rest of this week's craziest crimes.)
