Part of Xavier Morales' job with the Secret Service is to determine which agents should lose their security clearance or jobs, but the 48-year-old senior supervisor has now lost his own clearance as the beleaguered service investigates a female agent's allegation that he assaulted her last week after a work party, the Washington Post reports. Morales has been put on a "don't let in" list at the agency's office and stripped of his gun and badge. "The Secret Service is an agency that demands that our employees conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity," Director Joseph Clancy said in a statement to the Post. "Any threats or violence that endangers our employees in the workplace is unacceptable and will not be tolerated."
The woman told police and Secret Service investigators that she was at a DC brewpub on March 31 for a party, which the Post notes was thrown to celebrate Morales' recent promotion to head up the agency's office in Louisville, Ky. She said Morales professed his love for her and his desire to sleep with her, two sources tell the paper; he then allegedly tried to kiss her later at the office and pinned her arms as she struggled to get away (the married Morales eventually gave up).
