At Apple Event, Some News From HBO

Today's Apple event started off with a bang—but not with an Apple Watch-related bang. First up (after Apple CEO Tim Cook, of course) was HBO CEO Richard Plepler, who announced that HBO is finally launching a stand-alone streaming service with Apple as its "exclusive partner-at-large." The scoop on what's been named HBO Now: Starting next month, you can subscribe for $14.99/month (first month free if you sign up in April) and will have access to all of HBO's past and current original programming, along with its lineup of movies. But to watch you'll need a broadband connection and an Apple device—that means iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. Cook came back onstage to announce the price of the latter has now dropped to $69.
