If Rep. Jeff Fortenberry had been in his Lincoln, Neb., office instead of on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, he would have been in serious danger of getting covered in glitter and confetti. Instead, it was his aides who took the brunt of the "glitter bomb" apparently sent by an opponent of the Republican's anti-abortion policies, reports the Omaha World-Herald. A spokeswoman says a note included with the glitter read, "Congrats, you've earned this for trying to deny women their right to choice. Mind your own uterus."
The note had the letterhead "Glitter Bombs for Choice," and the return address on the envelope was that of a local Catholic center, according to KMTV. The Fortenberry spokeswoman says local police, the FBI, and postal authorities have been contacted. "You can certainly disagree with your member of Congress or any member of Congress, but this is pretty reckless and irresponsible," she tells the World-Herald, adding that there were no glitter casualties. "Nobody was injured, except now people have glitter on their clothes," she says. (The creator of a site for people to send glitter bombs to their enemies was able to sell it for $85,000 after less than two weeks in business.)
