During the Tonight Show's week in LA, Jimmy Fallon took another one of his trips down memory lane last night, reuniting much of the Saved by the Bell cast for a skit about Fallon's supposed days with them at Bayside High. Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack), Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly), Mario Lopez (Slater), Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie), and even Dennis Haskins (Principal Belding) came along for the ride, which involved Gosselaar and Fallon reciting the words to the show's theme song, Jessie doing her famous "I'm so excited, I'm so scared" line, the Zack Attack song "Friends Forever," and mentions of almost everyone's post-Bell careers:
- Zack to Slater after Slater showed off some ballet moves: "Wow, Slater, with those moves you could be a contestant on Dancing With the Dweebs."
- Fallon explains to his friends that he's moving to New York to "be on Saturday Night Live, host my own talk show, and who knows, maybe one day date Nicole Kidman." Zack: "Jimmy going on a date with Nicole Kidman? It's like Jessie becoming a stripper."
- Kelly tells Zack she's pregnant, and he suggests, "We should run off to Las Vegas and get married and then we should move to a new ZIP code in Beverly Hills!"
Fallon has been hoping for a
Bell reunion since 2009, notes the
Hollywood Reporter. In a behind-the-scenes piece,
Mashable reports that the audience didn't know about the surprise skit until just before taping started, as the crew started to roll in Bayside set pieces. The sketch required just a single take, no stops. (
Fallon really likes 1990s sitcoms.)
