Why Chris Rock Is Getting Divorced

Chris Rock was apparently unhappy when soon-to-be-ex-wife Malaak's statement made it sound like their decision to divorce was a mutual one, so, as TMZ puts it, his people "fired back ... making it clear HE was the one who filed for divorce." Now, sources connected to the couple tell the gossip site Rock was simply tired of being in an unfulfilling marriage and wasn't happy. A source echoes that sentiment to People, noting, "Chris has known it wasn't salvageable for a while. He was the one to file because he knew it was time to just move forward already." And, as the Washington Post points out, the comedian certainly wasn't shy about dissing marriage in his stand-up act, movies, and interviews, with lines like "Hey, if bin Laden was here right now, he’s going, 'Oh, yeah, my eight wives are killing me, too.'"

More bad news from Hollywood marriages:

• Slash's wife of 13 years, Perla, might be leaving the former Guns N' Roses guitarist, sources tell TMZ. She's reportedly taken their two sons to Hawaii and told Slash they need to work through their problems by New Year's or she's done, and is telling people they're separated even though she hasn't filed any legal documents. Slash filed for divorce in 2010, but withdrew the petition after two months.
• Celebrity chef Giada de Laurentiis has split with her husband of 11 years, Todd Thompson, E! reports. "After an amicable separation since July, Todd and I have decided to end our marriage," she wrote on Facebook last night. "Although our decision to separate comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus on the future and overwhelming desire for our family's happiness has given us the strength to move forward on separate, yet always connected paths." They have a 6-year-old daughter.
• All of the above may have had decade-plus marriages, but Jeremy Renner's wife is seeking a divorce after just 10 months, source tell TMZ. Renner and Sonni Pacheco only made their marriage public three months ago. According to documents filed by Pacheco, their prenup was based on fraud, she wants physical custody of their 1-year-old daughter (among other things), and she wants Renner to return her passport, birth certificate, and social security card—which she claims he stole.
