Parents Can Go to Bed Early on NYE Thanks to Netflix

About a third of parents already fool their kids into welcoming the new year hours ahead of time, and for those inclined to join their ranks, Netflix has your back and it is in the form of a dancing lemur and an on-demand New Year's Eve countdown. King Julien, of the Madagascar movies and the Netflix series All Hail King Julien, is offering up a three-minute video celebration that parents can queue up anytime—and get their kids to bed at a decent hour, CNN Money reports. "I was totally bummed when I heard that some of my favorite little party people aren't allowed to stay up until midnight for the biggest party of the year," says King Julien in a statement. "But then I realized I'm king, I make the rules! So move over, Ryan Seacrest."

The video featuring King Julien and his dancing lemur friends is available now, adds Huffington Post, because, well, "it's midnight somewhere." The move by Netflix is more than just a convenience for parents, it's part of the company's strategy to grab loyal viewers from a young age. The company is planning a Care Bears series as well; that show and King Julien are among 70 kids' shows currently being streamed by about 2 million subscribers, notes CNN.
