Sony Cancels Release of 'The Interview'

The Interview won't be released on Christmas Day after all. Sony said today that it was putting the Seth Rogen film on hold in the face of threats from hackers, reports NBC News. Not that it would have been easy to see anyway: Sony's move came after four major chains—Regal, AMC, Cinemark, and Carmike—said they wouldn't show the movie until federal investigators figured out whether related terrorist threats were legit, reports the Wall Street Journal. Earlier, filmmaker Judd Apatow criticized the chains for ditching the movie, adding via tweet, "This only guarantees that this movie will be seen by more people on Earth than it would have before.
