Red was the bread-and-butter of last night's Oscars, on the carpet and on the stars. But those who bucked tradition shone brighter, Jezebel opines, giving props to Marion Cotillard's fish-scale gown by Gaultier, Cate Blanchett's purple Dries Van Noten, and Amy Adams' deep green Proenza Schouler. Juno scribe Diablo Cody won the Oscar but lost the fashion derby with a billowing leopard-print sack dress that "swung and missed."
Others on the blog's "ugly" list include Daniel Day-Lewis' wife, Rebecca Miller—red bows and a huge flower?—and George Clooney's squeeze Sarah Lawson. "Her ugly-ass table-cloth dress was the worst of the worst in my book. You can take the girl out of Fear Factor, but you can't take the Fear Factor out of the girl," writes Jezebel's Jennifer Gerson.
