Auburn Football Player Shot Dead

Alabama police are seeking a suspect in the shooting death of Auburn University freshman football player Jakell Mitchell, who was shot early today at the Tiger Lodge apartment complex, reports AL.com. After police responded at 12:25am to the shooting, Mitchell was taken to the emergency room, where he died shortly after. The death of the 18-year-old tight end, who was a local high school star, is being treated as a homicide. "The thoughts and prayers of all of us at Auburn University are with his family during this difficult time," an Auburn spokesman tells CNN.
