A mom in Tulsa, Oklahoma, got quite the shock when her 4-year-old son popped a quarter in a vending machine at a dollar store and out came a gold-colored, plastic ring—bearing the Nazi symbol of an eagle atop a swastika, Fox 23 reports. "You don't want to know what my reaction was," says the mom, Leona Kelley. "I just started yelling at the store people like, 'What the hmmm is this?' I'm like, 'Why is this here?'" Reporters found another 10 to 15 rings with swastikas in the Family Dollar store machine, but when pressed, the store said it didn't stock or maintain the machine. Family Dollar admitted it has had issues with the vendor before, though.
When reporters called the vendor (which goes unnamed in press reports), a man answered and had "no comment" on the rings—but claimed someone would remove them from machines within a few days. Kelley went around to other Family Dollar store vending machines and found no other rings. Now she believes the rings were purposely planted to shock people in the black community around the store, which is near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in North Tulsa, CBS Houston reports. "It was made just like the other rings they've got in there," she says. "You can bend it up and shove it in here. So it was made for a vending machine." (More Nazi stories.)
