Remember when a trip to the restroom used to actually be somewhat restful? Amazon and Procter & Gamble want to make sure you multitask and maximize your toilet time with their new "Stall Mall" campaign, which pushes consumers to "Sit, Shop, and Save!" The companies have teamed up to plaster the interior of select stalls in four US cities—LA, New York, Philly, and Seattle—through the end of 2014 with ads that feature coupons that can be scanned using Amazon's app. Consumers can then shop online for toilet paper, toothpaste, baby wipes, and other household items right from the comfort of their nearest public porcelain throne, CNN reports.
CNBC reports the promo offers info on how to install the Amazon app, as well as coupon bar codes for discounts on such products as Crest tooth-whitening strips, Charmin TP, and (somewhat inexplicably) batteries and paper towels. The coupon values are somewhat higher than what you'd usually find—$7 off the tooth-whitening strips, for example—and after you scan the bar codes, you can place your order with Amazon right from your seat. There was some science that went into this: A Charmin survey recently found that one-third of Americans prefer to be "productive" while heeding nature's call, and 13% of those respondents who've shopped online while taking care of business picked up household goods. (After you do some shopping in the bathroom, feel free to cry or do a workout, too.)
