US | Ferguson, Missouri Ferguson Schools Will Be Closed Tomorrow Districts start holiday break early ahead of grand jury decision By Kate Seamons Posted Nov 24, 2014 5:15 PM CST Copied Demonstrators block a busy intersection while marching through the streets to protest the August shooting of Michael Brown, Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014. (AP Photo/David Goldman) The grand jury has made its decision in the Michael Brown shooting, and so has the Riverview Gardens School District. That district encompasses the Canfield Green apartment complex where Brown was shot; it's closing tomorrow (it technically added a day to the start of the Thanksgiving break) "due to the anticipated increase in traffic and possible demonstrations in our area," per a statement picked up by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Riverview Gardens isn't alone. Ferguson's three other school districts also will be closed, along with most schools in the St. Louis area. A separate Post-Dispatch article notes that area businesses are announcing closures as well. Four QuikTrip locations in and near Ferguson are closing as a "precautionary measure" for the safety of employees and customers, per a rep, who has no ETA on when they'll open. Other spots that have already closed for the day: Best Buy's Brentwood location, some St. Louis County Library branches, Pappy's barbecue restaurant, and some office buildings in downtown Clayton.
