Katy Perry will join the exclusive club of stars to take the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 1, NBC confirmed last night, in what the AP calls the fourth pick in a row aimed at younger performers and audiences. It's also a savvy pick, writes Chris Serico at Today: Perry commands Twitter's largest following (currently a hefty 60.4 million) and has a resumé that includes nine No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits. What to expect? "A live greatest-hits medley with, perhaps, a new single thrown in for good measure," writes Serico. The announcement comes after a couple weeks of speculation that Perry was the pick, an August report that the NFL was asking performers to pay to play, and Perry's own response that she's "not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl."
