Critics may have hated Dumb and Dumber To, but audiences apparently flocked to it: The Jim Carrey-Jeff Daniels reunion won the weekend box office with $38.1 million—which is almost exactly what it cost to make, notes the Hollywood Reporter. It's the biggest opening in a decade for Carrey and the biggest ever for Daniels. "Dumb and Dumber was a beloved film on home entertainment, and people wanted to be entertained. It's escapism," says a Universal boss. Big Hero 6 fell to the No. 2 spot with $36 million, while Interstellar snagged third place with $29.2 million. Jon Stewart's Rosewater "struggled," notes the Reporter, with $1.2 million. (More Dumb and Dumber To stories.)
