One man in China's got 99 problems but his girlfriend ... well, she's not around anymore. Just in time for the country's "Singles' Day" today, which is becoming a popular day to propose, a young Guangzhou programmer bought 99 iPhone 6s, arranged them in a heart, and asked his girlfriend—in front of a crowd of friends and onlookers—for her hand in marriage, reports the Nanfang. But in spite of the grand gesture, she said no.
Weibo users quickly posted pictures of the sad event on the social media network, the Independent reports, with many of them calling the man's idea "stupid." But Yahoo Tech reports that one recent survey found one in five men would actually rather have an iPhone 6 than a girlfriend, so at least he should be able to earn back some of the $82,000 the phones are said to have cost him. (This hot-air balloon proposal didn't go as planned, either.)
