Michael Phelps was charged early today with driving under the influence, reports TMZ—the second such charge the swimmer has faced in 10 years. Sources tell the site he was pulled over in his native Maryland, reportedly going 84mph in a 45mph zone, and that he "bombed" his field sobriety test and had a BAC nearly twice the legal limit. Cops tell TMZ that the swimmer is facing charges involving DUI, excessive speed, and crossing double lines. Phelps was charged with drunk driving in 2004, when he was underage; he netted 18 months of probation in that instance. No comment as yet from Team Phelps. (More Michael Phelps stories.)
