Firefighter Dies After 'Ice Bucket' Accident

A 41-year-old firefighter in Campbellsville, Ky., died Saturday, a month after sustaining injuries while helping complete the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS. Tony Grider and 22-year-old firefighter Simon Quinn were both in a bucket on the ladder of a truck that had just dumped water on the Campbellsville University marching band for the fundraiser when the truck veered too close to a nearby power line. The ladder didn't actually touch the line, but the voltage was so high it carried over to the truck, shocking the men.

Two other firefighters were treated and released after the incident; Quinn was just released last Monday, the Courier-Journal reports. "[Grider's] family would like to sincerely thank all of those who have been there for them following this tragic accident," the Campbellsville fire chief says.
