A song that only dogs can hear has hit the top of the charts in New Zealand and may be headed for the US, Reuters reports. "A Very Silent Night," a charity single to benefit the country's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, was recorded at a frequency audible only to dogs and got enough tails wagging to make it the nation's No. 1 Christmas hit.
The single has been popular with dog owners, but reactions vary among those who can actually hear it. "The most violent one was a dog that physically attacked the radio when it was played and went quite berserk and totally destroyed it," said the head of the SPCA. "On the other side of the scale, they just lay down and did nothing. Never having heard it myself, I don't know what they hear."
