32 Teens Break Out of Tenn. Detention Center

Thirty-two teens escaped from a Nashville youth detention center around 11pm last night, and 17 are still being sought, says a rep for Tennessee's Department of Children's Services. The teens—ages 14 to 19, according to the AP—apparently crawled under a fence in the facility's yard. Two of the teens were recaptured right away, and others were found overnight. Local police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol are taking part in the search for the still-missing teens.

The escape took place after a group of the detainees flooded the yard during a shift change, though the spokesman doesn't know if the escape was planned or spontaneous. He says the teens being kept at the detention center have committed at least three felonies, though so far there have been no reports of criminal activity in the area.
