Going to the wrong cashier in Saudi Arabia can be a painful mistake. Video has surfaced of a British expatriate being beaten by religious police after mistakenly trying to pay at a women-only supermarket cash desk accompanied by his Saudi wife. Only women are allowed to pay female cashiers in the kingdom, although men are allowed to be present if accompanied by a female family member, AFP notes. According to local media, the British man, who runs a business in Riyadh, was jumped on by religious police officers who tried to seize his camera. A car sent by the British Embassy in the city eventually took the couple away. Some Saudis condemned the attack on social media, and officials plan to meet with the man to discuss the incident, reports Al Arabiya. (More Saudi Arabia stories.)
