Breaking Bad, Modern Family Grab Top Emmys

They win best drama, best comedy series

Seth Meyers opened tonight's Emmy Awards with quite a few jokes about the fact that the ceremony was held on a Monday night rather than a Sunday night before opening things up to the first presenter: none other than Amy Poehler, who handed out the night's first award, for supporting actor in a comedy, to Modern Family's Ty Burrell. Other awards went to:

  • Directing in a Comedy Series: Gail Mancuso, Modern Family

  • Reality Competition Program: The Amazing Race
  • Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special: Sherlock
  • Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie: Kathy Bates, American Horror Story

  • Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie: Martin Freeman, Sherlock
  • Directing in a Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special: Colin Bucksey, Fargo
