Reports: TransAsia flight caught fire after failed emergency landing

Forty-seven people are being reported dead after a TransAsia Airways plane was forced to make an emergency landing today and caught fire near an airport in Penghu, an island off the coast of Taiwan, reports the South China Morning Post. There were 58 people aboard the ATR-72 turboprop when it ran into bad weather stemming from a typhoon that earlier hit the region; 11 are reported injured. The emergency landing was the aircraft's second attempt, and it is said to have hit at least one residential building. (More Taiwan stories.)
