The Montreal Canadiens ruined a great night for the Florida Panthers last night in a 2-1 overtime win, reports the Associated Press. Throughout the night the Panthers and their fans honored Richard Zednik, the recovering forward whose neck was slashed by teammate Olli Jokinen's skate Sunday. Alexei Kovalev scored the winner for Montreal. In other NHL action:

  • Ryan Miller had 31 saves and Paul Gaustad scored the only goal as the Buffalo Sabres stonewalled the Toronto Maple Leafs, 1-0.
  • The Boston Bruins allowed on 11 shots in the first two periods, and Petteri Nokelainen and Vladimir Sobotka scored goals in a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
