Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi always seem like such a lovely couple—but things are apparently very different behind closed doors. A source tells In Touch that de Rossi did a secret 30-day stint in rehab in May—and, as per the Contra Costa Times, it was trouble with DeGeneres that pushed her there. "Ellen is domineering and Portia is passive," the source says, and their marriage is full of "jealousy, lies, and fighting." De Rossi "felt like a prisoner in her own home. She went from sipping white wine occasionally to drinking at least a bottle or more a day and topping it off with a pill."
As things got worse, with de Rossi "out of it four nights a week," the source says, the couple started getting into "vicious shouting matches" involving "cruel, soul-crushing put-downs." (Yes, the source actually said that.) Divorce was mentioned, couples therapy was attempted, and during one particularly "ugly fight," de Rossi "lost it and blamed Ellen for driving her to drink because of her controlling ways and said she wasn't in love with her anymore. Ellen was crushed and screamed at Portia to get out." Then came rehab. But they're reportedly trying to work things out, and the source says Ellen visited Portia every weekend she was in the facility. (More Portia de Rossi stories.)
