One time, Maureen Dowd accidentally ate 16 times the recommended dose of pot candy and got so high in a Denver hotel room that she thought she "had died and no one was telling me." Dowd wrote about the experience in yesterday's parable/column on the growing pains of Colorado's newly legal pot industry, and the lack of dosage guidance for intrepid pothead reporters. But the truth is, "she got the warning," says Matt Brown. The My 420 Tours co-founder was one of several local experts Dowd reached out to on her January trip to her Mile-High high. "She did what all the reporters did," Brown tells the Cannabist. "She listened."
He continues: "We talked about edibles and how they affect everyone differently. In the context of covering all the bases with a customer, we really went into depth to tell this reporter, who would then tell the world, about marijuana in Colorado." Brown then shares this little nugget: "She got some bud, some edibles, and when we got back to the hotel she had to run off to a Mitt Romney documentary screening. She asked me, 'Will you roll a joint for me? I don’t know how to do it.'" No word back from Dowd on her joint-rolling abilities or lack thereof. Meanwhile, the Cannabist also runs down 20 reactions to Dowd's column from the Twitterverse, including this from ThinkProgress editor Judd Legum: "Working on a piece for NYT op-ed page where I pound a liter of vodka and talk about how terrible I feel afterwards."
