Man Saves Neighbor— on Way to Get War Honor

Army reservist James Yates served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and received a Purple Heart when a roadside bomb damaged his spinal cord. He got some public recognition for his service last weekend from the crowd before an arena football game in Des Moines, and KCCI reports that he would have been forgiven if he were a little late for the ceremony—he had to stop and save a neighbor's life on the way. A woman got pinned under her Chevy Blazer when the jack slipped, and after her son sought help, Yates reset the jack and got the vehicle off of her.
