Oops: Cubs Player Wears Wrong Uniform

The Chicago Cubs' 16-inning game against the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday night lasted until 1am and commentators suspect drowsiness could have caused the Cubs' Junior Lake to don the wrong uniform for an early afternoon game at PNC Park the next day. The outfielder took to the field in the Cubs' old road uniform, which says "Chicago" on the front instead of "Cubs," reports Sports Illustrated. He played the whole first inning in the wrong uniform before getting changed. While it appears to be a mix-up that nobody in the clubhouse noticed before the game, perhaps Lake was "taking a stand on behalf of baseball tradition," where "road grays have usually featured the visiting team’s city, not its nickname," writes Ted Berg at USA Today.
