Adrianne Haslet-Davis lost her left foot and part of her leg in the Boston Marathon bombings, but the professional dancer vowed afterward that she would dance again. Yesterday she did, at the 2014 TED Conference in Vancouver, reports AP. The 33-year-old took the stage with a partner and twirled about on a high-tech prosthetic designed especially for dancing by an MIT professor inspired by her story. (That professor, Hugh Herr, is a double-amputee himself since a climbing accident in the 1980s.)

“Conquering that out on that stage felt like accomplishing something I have been waiting my entire life to accomplish,” she tells the Boston Herald. "The feeling is priceless. It took me a long time to even listen to music after the marathon. To dance again is incredible." Haslet-Davis, who got a standing ovation before and after her performance, says she hopes to appear on Dancing With the Stars. (More Adrianne Haslet-Davis stories.)
