Do gays demand the right to have sex with kids? Should gays who have sex be quarantined? That's what new Wyoming state legislator Troy Mader wrote in a book about AIDS nearly 30 years ago, and he still stands by at least some of it, the Casper Star-Tribune reports. "That’s what the experts recommended at the time," said Mader when asked whether he still supports mandatory AIDS testing for children. "I will say this: I haven’t seen anything to refute their statements." Here are a few tidbits from his self-published 1987 work, The Death Sentence of AIDS:
- "The spread of AIDS into the general population of the United States is assumed to have come about by: A. Homosexuals who purposely infected women to pass AIDS infection into the straight population."
- "Many homosexuals demand the right to kill themselves with the AIDS virus and to kill others by infecting them."
- "All sexual practices of homosexuals must cease…"
- The media attacks "any action that they feel would be harmful to their cause of protecting homosexuals, promiscuity, etc."
Since winning his seat, Mader has supported two bills that effectively opposed gay marriage, but neither has passed. "I’ll be honest with you: We don’t have standing to change the definition of marriage," he said, adding that either "God" or "nature" created marriage. Meanwhile, a website that promotes music written by Mader is criticizing tolerance as a "characteristic of a person who hasn’t any virtue left,"
