The Red Wings looked entirely unlike themselves for two periods last night, but managed to pull it together just in time for Dan Cleary to tie up the score with 80 seconds remaining in the third. Brett Lebda then made quick work of Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom in overtime to secure the 3-2 victory, the Detroit News reports. Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • Toronto suffered its worst loss of the season in a mortifying 8-0 mauling by Florida which saw a hat trick and assist by Richard Zednik and four assists by Brett McLean.
  • Tampa Bay continued to perform shockingly well on the road, going up against St. Louis and holding on to a 5-4 lead for a fifth straight away victory.
